Education & Career Planning

High School Planning and Career Planning may not be something that you thought you’d be thinking about today…but it is something each of us have to do at some point. Your future is under construction and the decisions you make will determine how you live.

How do I start? What do I do? Who do I listen to?

Graduation will be here soon. Will you be ready?

If any of those questions sound familiar, it’s because everyone of us ask those same questions.  In a world where change is constant “How do I know if  I have made the right decision?” You may not, but you have to move forward and with some guidance from more experienced people we might be able to keep you from making errors others have made.

Step 1

Begin with the end in mind, is what author Steven Covey tells us… so when you are older say 25 years old or even later when you are 45 years old….what do you want to look back on and be proud of in your life?  How do you want to live?  Where do you want to live?

Step 2

If I have figured out the answers to the above, that’s pretty incredible, many of us just don’t know what we want to do in our lives. So how do we keep moving?

There are courses called “GENERAL EDUCATION” which is what everyone has to take. So, you start with those classes first. Next, you plan out which years you are going to take which classes. You have to plan well so you do not get frustrated and give up.

Step 3

Start thinking about what you’d like to do in your life. This is an important decision that gets made and your parents and teachers may be good folks to ask that question and get some ideas. You may want to think about what you like to do or what you are good at and enjoy.
